The prime need of the present hour, is to exterminate the storm of materialism and the chief task of religious motivation in modern times lies in the revival of the faith as a living reality and re-educating the young men of the Ummah on the basic tenets of Islam, and sustain the socio-moral and spiritual values.

It is an obvious fact that the Muslims of these countries like India are constrained to study under the general secular system of their countries. The practical solution of this vital problem of educating the Muslims on proper lines, in fact, lies in establishing minority schools introducing Islamic Studies as an additional compulsory subject within the curriculum recognition from the state and popularizing basic Islamic learning among Muslims.

Perspectives

It is an acknowledgment fact that the level of education among the Indian Muslims is lower as compared to that of other communities. The education backwardness of Indian is not merely a problem of the Muslim community but of the entire nation, as it is a primary duty of the nation to educate every citizen. Besides, being a secular system, Islamic education is not imparted in government of Christian schools. Moreover, co-education creates social problems and the influence of mass media, (T.V. and Films) distort the Islamic image and corrupt not only Muslim youth, but all Indian youths as well.

In fact, religion in our society is isolated and alienated from our lives and feelings because we do not practice it. The home and the external environment, instead of, promoting religious education, undermines it. In the light of such experiences and in such conditions only the school curriculum remains a channel of information through which Islamic Education for Muslim Students and Moral Instructions for non-Muslim students could be imparted and consolidated.
