Ngapati atau Ngupati adalah upacara selamatan ketika kehamilan menginjak pada usia 4 bulan.

Sedangkan mitoni atau tingkepan (melet kandung) adalah upacara selamatan ketika kandungan berusia 7 bulan.

Upacara selamatan tersebut dilakukan dengan tujuan agar janin yang ada dalam kandungan nantinya lahir dalam keadaan sehat, wal afiyat serta menjadi anak yang saleh.

Penentuan bulan keempat tersebut, mengingat pada saat itu adalah waktu ditiupnya ruh oleh Malaikat kepada si janin di dalam
kandungan, sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam hadits shahih.

Sedangkan penetapan bulan ketujuh sebagai selamatan kedua, karena pada masa
tersebut si janin telah memasuki masa-masa siap untuk dilahirkan.
