سنڌ جي اوائلي تاريخ بابت ڪا به يقيني ڄاڻ نه ٿي ملي ۔ مورخين ي چوڻ مطابق سنڌو تهذيب پنج هزار ورهيه پراڻي آهي ۔ هي علائقو شروعات ۾ سمنڊ جو حصو هو ۔ جيڪو زلزلن ۽ ٻوڏن جي اچڻ ڪري سڪي ويو ۔ فيسفڪ سمنڊ ۽ وچ اوڀر کان ڪي قبيلا سنڌ ۾ اچي آباد ٿيا ، جن ۾ دراوڙ ، ميد ,، ڀيل ۽ ميگهواڙ شامل هئا ۔

سنڌ جو نالو ”سنڌو درياءَ“ تان پيو، جيڪو ان جو اصل ۽ شروعاتي نالو آھي آڳاٽي تاريخ جي اڀياس مان معلوم ٿئي ٿو ته ان نالي مختلف وقتن تي مختلف صورتون اختيار ڪيون آھن، جيڪي اصل ۾ بنيادي لفظ "سنڌو" جون مختلف آوازي شڪليون آھن. اتر ۾ ھي صوبو پنجاب، اوڀر ۾ ٿر۽ اولھ ۾ بلوچستان سان ڳنڍيل آھي جڏھن ته ڏکڻ ۾ عربي سمنڊ ڪڇ جو رڻ واقع اٿس. ھيءُ صوبو پاڪستان جي جملي ايراضيءَ مان 140،914 چورس ڪلوميٽرن تي پکڙيل آھي.سنڌ جي ابتدائي سياسي تاريخ تي اڃان تائين پردو پيل آھي. موھن جي دڙي جي کوٽائي ۽ اتان لڌل شين مان 2500 سال ق م جي سنڌ ۽ ان جي مھذب ۽ شھري زندگيءَ جو پتو پوي ٿو آريا ھڪ تمام وڏي علائقي ۾ آباد ھئا، جيڪو اويستا واري زماني ۾ سورھن پرڳڻن اندر ھو. هو ھڪ ٻئي کي اباڻن ۽ قبائلي نالن سان سڏڻ کان سواءِ ساڻيھن جي نالن پويان پڻ ضرور سڏيندا ھوندا. ان ڪري ئي اسين ڏسون ٿا ته اڍائي ھزار ورھيه اڳ جي سکامني بادشاھن پنھنجن ٺُلھن جي ڪتبن ۾ سورھن آريائي پرڳڻن جا ڪي ٽيھ نالا ڄاڻايا آھن. انھن ۾ اسان کي ھندو ( سِنڌو) ۽، ان جي صفت، ھندويه سنڌي ڏسڻ ۾ اچن ٿا . (Jafarey, 1982:110-111)اھو پھريون ڀيرو ھو جو ماٿريءَ جي رھواسين کي نالي ڏيڻ لاءِ سنڌي لفظ لکيت ۾ ڪم آندو ويو ھن مان اھو نتيجو به ڪڍي سگھجي ٿو ته ان ئي دور ۾ ھن علائقي ۾ ڳالھائجندڙ ٻوليءَ کي به سنڌي سڏيو ويو ھوندو
