Gedung Mahasiswa Teknik Elektro masih bergabung dengan gedung Teknik Sipil, dan dosen teknik elektro masih kebanyakan dosen dari teknik sipil.hal ini tak membuat patah semangat Mahasiswa Teknik Elektro Lalu seketika munculah ide dan Gagasan bahwa teknik elektro harus berdiri sendiri dan bersifat Independent. Hal ini diawali pada saat tengah siang hari yang panas, bertempat di gedung E fakultas Teknik, seluruh mahasiswa Teknik Elektro berdiskusi untuk membuat Logo Teknik Elektro.
