Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing SmallChoices on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

About this app

The SmallChoices App has been commissioned from Hannah Bruce and Company, by Hoxton Hall.

SmallChoices uses BLE beacon technology to enable a Nineteenth Century Music Hall to respond to visitors' presence through light and immersive sound, and demonstrates a unique approach to heritage interpretation.

Challenging conceptions of what a heritage tour can be, A Collection of Small Choices is a pioneering artistic experience for visitors to Hoxton Hall. A unique journey for one person at a time, the SmallChoices App transforms your smartphone or tablet into a key for a hidden doorway. Surf Hoxton Hall’s history in the part-fictional (but wholly unruly) company of characters inspired by the Hall’s archives.

Having downloaded the App, on arrival at Hoxton Hall visitors put on their headphones, open the App, and BLE technology installed in the building communicates with the App to trigger sound and light as visitors explore the building at their own pace.
