I mostly love this app but it's badly let down by the crosswords, the main reason I have it. Yet again today any multiple clues simply don't appear and you cannot edit the answers for those clues even if you know what goes in there. I have raised this many times via email but it still isn't fixed. I have even upgraded my tablet to a high spec one running the latest Android. Please fix this. I really want to support the guardian but you're not helping!

Well, after mostly working for quite a while, the app again is closing immediately upon loading. I do not know why the Guardian is incapable of coming up with an app that replicates the printed edition AND WORKS. The NYT can do it, the New Yorker can do it, and I imagine many other publications that I don't read have done it. And since the website and the regular app are both very annoying to read, I would really be grateful if the Guardian could get a grip on this thing and FIX IT FOR GOOD. (Dec 17) And yet another update. After several emails back and forth, the tech support people found and eliminated the problem. App works just fine now, and is a lot easier and pleasanter to read than the regular app or the website. Kudos to them; they are responsive and persistent! [Previous review follows] This weekend, huge sections started loading as blank pages. Force-stopping and reloading gets it working for a while, but then more blank pages appear. To read everything I was interested in today (which was not the whole paper) I had to force-stop it 4-5 times. This is not good.

Crashes on every start. Paid for a subscription and not happy.

Worked well for 3 weeks then failed to load without uninstall and reinstall, this happened twice and then the app wouldn't open at all. Very little help or advice available. I have paid good money for this because it was very good when it worked. I thought I was going to have to cancel my subscription unless I could find a fix. The app updated itself around 18th August 2016 and then ceased to work. My ASUS Phone Pad needed a system update to run the updated app, it is now working OK. Found under settings under the About heading, it took about 20 minutes in all. So far so good.

A bit flaky when doing the early morning download before I wake up. Makes good use of Android intents by opening the app for Guardian URLs, so even a link on Twitter gets the best native rendering.

It is unreliable as it frequently tells me no new issues can be found, despite me seeing the cover of the day's newspaper. It is not a WiFi issue and the only way is to update the app ( if there is one) or uninstall it and reinstall. I have had to do this again today and now it no longer recognises my ID and postcode so I cannot read the paper I have paid for. This app is so disappointing. It really lets down the brand and as it is the vehicle paid subscriptions are viewed by it is not upto standard.
