About this app

Der Schauinsland ist ein Berg nahe Freiburg,der mit einer Höhe von 1284 Metern ein sehr breites waldbauliches Spektrum abdeckt. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Huss, pensionierter Professor für Waldbau an der Universität Freiburg, hat Generationen von Studenten im Rahmen der legendären “Schauinsland-Exkursion” gelehrt, aus dem Aussehen von Waldbeständen Rückschlüsse auf deren Historie zu ziehen.

Mit der App erleben sie diese Exkursion eigenständig nach. Sie erhalten dabei von Professor Huss eingesprochene Informationen zu 19 thematisch unterschiedlichen Exkursionspunkten. Auf der Wanderung von der Bergstation bis zum Fuße des Schauinslandes in Günterstal werden interessante waldbauliche und kulturhistorische Aspekte des Waldes und der Waldbewirtschaftung erläutert.
