Grey Matter is a social music app with expressive ways to share, discover, and support the music you love.

The emotional connection that happens around music needs human beings. But we live in an era where the convenience of tech shouts louder than our friends.

Algorithms and the absence of social tools make people nonessential to the streaming experience. Streaming platforms have made listening to music global, but they’re not building the community that music needs and creates. We’re leaving so much behind.


While there is no substitute for real-life connection, there should be a digital solution that better supports it. We’re building Grey Matter to be that digital solution. This is where music community happens. Here’s how:

Tired of not being able to share music with friends because they use different streaming platforms? Tired of algorithms deciding what you should listen to? Grey Matter’s got you.

Music taste is a window into the self, but there's still no good way to show off the music that makes you, YOU. We’re bringing back the mixtape vibes, in living color.

ARTISTS 👨‍🎤👩‍🎤

The music ecosystem is disconnected, we know -- we’re a team of musicians, DJs, promoters, and label heads, so we feel the pain. Your music lives on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, but those don’t have social tools. So you turn to broad social platforms like Instagram to build community, but organic promotion is virtually impossible.

In sum: you have to pay to promote the music you paid to make with money you can’t earn to listeners who aren’t even aware that they can’t hear you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

App Permissions

Allows an app to create windows using the type TYPE_APPLICATION_OVERLAY, shown on top of all other apps.
Allows access to the vibrator.
Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows an application to read the user's contacts data.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
Allows an application to write to external storage.
Required to be able to access the camera device.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
