Was cool, now it doesn't work. Tried it first time 24 Nov and could see what I was scanning. Good image in AR. Tried tonight, instructions to move the phone on a black screen and then says find a bigger room for the image. Doesn't matter how big the room is or if I walk about or just move the phone. Very frustrating. ***Updated*** It's back working.

Super laggy on Pixel 5..... not a patch on the old star wars ar stickers where you could put an AT-AT in your garden! I'll monitor app for updates and fixes and review my rating again soon - UPDATE - I'm adding another star as the laggy performance issues were resolved in the latest update. However, I'm still not sold on the features considering it's a brand new app. I'd like to be able to get closer to the models and look at the textures up close (poor mando has no fingernails). The water effect in the third drop is great but you can't get closer than 10". Secondly, I'd like to see occlusion being used considering this appears to be built with help from google who've just developed this depth sensing update. What i'd really like to see are AR action sequences using occlusion in the home (lightsaber duel or blasters) or large scale AR action sequences (think AT AT, X wings flying) you can view outside. This is a new emerging tech and you're flying the flag here, especially using a major brand. You need ideas, call me ;o)

Best without 5G lies. 5G is just about faster speeds with less lag. Has little to nothing to do with this AR experience. The real reality is if you have good 4G it's already plenty for most users. 5G UWB is such a joke Verizon was forced to deploy sub 600mhz 5G which is just marginally faster than 4G LTE and in the case of att its actually slower than 4G. T-Mobile sub 6 is just a bit faster than their 4G and not by much.

Not as sophisticated as Google's other AR (esp. animals) efforts. You really only get 1 picture per scene & can only re-size it. Not much else. And the updates are weekly. So wait for next scene is a good 7 days. Kinda of a meh experience.

I have tried this app again after they updated it. I'm using Galaxy S20 5g with 5g connection and still get the "connect to wifi" msg everytime. Did what the developer suggested and I'm sorry to say it didn't help.. Ok downloaded the update. Better progress but, after hitting the load button a bar appears at the bottom for upto 5sec then at the top of the screen in a red banner it says server error, please try again(not verbatim)

Great feedback from the dev team on my previous review and good to see bug reports being handled. The app itself is a pretty decent experience, and now runs pretty smoothly on my 4a 5G. Interested to see where they take it from here.
