About this app

Moomu is a distance-based local market place. It provides a safe, transparent and efficient venue for people to buy and sell locally. It can also be used to estimate a fair market price of something local, using prices of similar items traded on Moomu.

1. Moomu uses two-step purchase flow to protect both buyer and seller

If a buyer is interested in an advertisement, she can send a buy request to the seller. Seller may accept or decline the request. If the seller accepts the request, buyer and seller can then communicate through in-app chatting to arrange for delivery. Buyer can either accept or reject delivery. Buyer's payment method will be charged only when he accepts delivery of the item in the advertisement.

2. User can search for prices of comparable items traded on Moomu

Seller can check price of similar items sold on Moomu. Comparable items give seller a sense of fair price.

3. Distance based

Buyer can set a searching radius through dragging on map. Only advertisements from sellers within that radius will be shown. Real time distance between seller and buyer are displayed along with the advertisement.

4. Video enabled advertising

Each advertisement can have a video up to 15 seconds long.

5. Reviews and transparency

Buyer can check ratings and reviews of the seller along with each ad. Seller can do the same when deciding on buy request.

6. Social

Buyer can like or dislike an ad and see if an ad has been requested by others

7. Ad watch
A buyer can specify an ad watch which describes an item the buyer is looking for. Once an advertisement matches the criteria appears, a notification will be sent to the buyer.

Other features

1. Cashless

Moomu handles payment. Buyer can pay using credit card. Seller gets paid by providing bank account or venmo account information.

2. Free

Moomu waives all credit card transaction fee and service fee until Feb. 1 2016

Moomu can be used for trading many things local. It is especially suited for trading distance or time-sensitive items, such as second-hand tickets, moving sales, and personal services.
