भगवद् गीता श्री कृष्ण और उनके शिष्य - अर्जुन के बीच एक धार्मिक ग्रंथ है। यह महाभारत की 6 वीं पुस्तक के 23-40 अध्यायों में दिखाई देता है। कृष्ण को अर्जुन को महाभारत नामक कुरुक्षेत्र में महान लड़ाई लड़ने का निर्देश देना पड़ा और इस प्रकार उन्होंने इन निर्देशों का पालन किया। इसे मोटे तौर पर 3 खंडों में विभाजित किया जा सकता है:

1. अध्याय 1 से 6 तक ध्यान और लोकप्रिय शब्द 'योग' पर
2. भगवान की भक्ति और प्रेम पर अध्याय 7 से 12
3. सृष्टि के अस्तित्व और घटकों पर अध्याय 13 से 18
