Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Wordio on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

About this app

Welcome to Wordio!

This app contains over 58,000 words from the English dictionary and one is randomly selected from this list when you hit the "Generate word" button. This app also has a dictionary.com integration so if you come across a word that you don't know all you have to is press the "word meaning" button.

This app is intended to be used to help increase the users English vocabulary. In today's society, a lot of people are cut off from others because some people have an expansive vocabulary where as others only have simple ones. Just a disclaimer though, I don't recommend using this app as just the only source of vocabulary. You should use this app in conjunction with reading. Reading is a good way to relax, but this app can be used if you don't have time in the day to read, or just want to learn a new word.

For users who have a small screen: please be advised that the app's layout may not be perfect and so full functionality may not be available. Sorry, there's nothing I can do!

A wee bit of trivia, this app was originally supposed to be called "Word Rodeo", but I decided to change this to "Wordeo". However, when it came to entering the name into the IDE at the beginning of development, I incorrectly spelled it and placed "Wordio" in. I didn't realise my mistake until late but I was too lazy to change it (believe me, there is a lot of work in changing the name of an app in Android programming!)

Just as a forewarning for the security conscious, there are two permissions this app uses. They are listed below:

ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
I need this permission to access the state of the internet connection to see if the certain buttons within the app should be allowed to be active.

INTERNET
This is for downloading ads.
