About this app

Obbie Messakh populer tahun 80-an lewat lagunya yang berjudul Melody Memory. Ia adalah pria kelahiran Pulau Rote, Nusa Tenggara Timur tahun 1958. Sejak kecil ia tinggal dan besar di Jakarta.

Ia sangat berperan dalam mencetak penyanti-penyanyi yang kemudian namanya melejit dengan membawakan lagu-lagu ciptaannya. Hampir semua artis yang ia orbitkan berhasil menjual lebih dari 400.000 keping CD.

KARIR

Obbie muncul di blantika musik nasional pada tahun 1983. Saat itu, pasar musik nasional dikuasai oleh JK Records, sebuah perusahaan rekaman yang dimiliki oleh Judhi Kristiantho. Obbie dipilih JK untuk menjadi penulis lagu bersama Panca, Maxi Mamiri, Wahyu OS dan JK sendiri serta Deddy Dores.

Setelah lagu-lagu yang diciptakan Obbie disukai masyarakat, ia pun merilis album solo perdananya berjudul KAU DAN AKU SATU. Bebebrapa lagu dalam album tersebut pernah dibawakan oleh penyanyi-penyanyi wanita jebolan JK Records. Namanya pun kian melejit.

Lagunya yang berjudul Hati Yang Luka pernah dicekal olek Menteri Penerangan, Harmoko karena dianggap terlalu cengeng. Karena itu, TVRI, sebagai satu-satunya stasiun televisi yang ada saat itu tidak lagi menayangkan lagu tersebut.

Karirnya mulai menurun sejak saat itu. Padahal banyak artis yag telah terkenal karena membawakan lagu-lagu karya Obbie juga berhasil menjual lebih dari 400.000 keping CD. Walaupun dicekal, ia tetap berkarya dan mencoba membuat lagu-lagu dengan nada ceria bahkan pop dangdut.
