About this app

IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) conducts a common written exam or CWE every year for the clerical cadre in multiple banks all over the country. All public sector banks use CWE as a base to fill the vacancies for this post.

The IBPS Clerk CWE exam is conducted on two levels- preliminary exam and mains. Students qualifying in both these exams are thus selected for the post.

Common Written Examination (CWE) is a pre-requisite for selection of personnel for Clerical cadre posts in Public Sector Banks.

The clerical post is an entry level cadre for anyone who wishes to become a banker. They mainly participate in the day to day activities of banking and also have the responsibility to address the queries and guidance of the customers.

Candidates who are selected for clerical cadre have to be on probation for 6 months. After the completion of the period, they are required to appear for the assessment test/performance review in order to confirm as permanent employees.

The clerk is basically in charge of the withdrawal and deposit counters such as accepting payments, sanction withdrawals, verify cheques, issue demand draft and other banking related services to customers.

Clerks also have to manage the daily records of the bank and back office work, which includes the collection of receipts, updating and maintaining ledger balance, balance tally and other transactions.

Besides this, they have to market the bank products. For eg: Loans, deposits and schemes. Clerks are also called as window operators or cashiers.
