This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Soul EV Spy - Lite on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

About this app

Soul EV Spy lets the owner of a Kia or Hyundai electric car view detailed information about their electric car's main battery, by plugging an inexpensive KW902 ELM-327 v1.5 Bluetooth OBDII adapter into the standard OBDII port of the car.

Konnwei KW902 ELM-327 v1.5 Bluetooth adapters are available for around $10-$20, and one is required before Kia Soul EV Spy can extract data from your car.

None of the many ELM-327 v2.1 adapters tested with the app works properly!
Many of the cheap ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth adapters from Asia does not work with the app, and often report themselves to be version 2.1.

The only dongle currently recommended is the Bluetooth Konnwei KW902 v1.5, because it supports all the needed ELM commands to communicate with the car systems.

This app requests access to GPS location, to calculate the car speed.

This app was originally developed for Kia Soul EV 27 kWh. For this model the app estimates the SOH (relevant for deciding a battery warranty claim).
