إن الدعاء علاقة سامية تُلخِّص معنى العبودية، كما أنه علاقة مباشرة بين العبد وربه بلا وسيط ولا شفيع، بمجرد أن يرفع يديه إلى ربِّه ويسأله حوائجه يستجيب له ربه ويعطيه من فضله وجوده وإحسانه، ولذلك قال رسول الله ﷺ: "الدعاء هو العبادة"، ونظرًا إلى أهمية الدعاء في حياة المسلم وضع الشرع له أحكامًا وآدابًا وسننًا ومنهيَّاتٍ تتعلَّق به.

يضمُّ هذا الكتاب بين دفَّتيه رسالة تقف بنا وقفاتٍ شائقة على مظانِّ الدعاء المستجاب، وآدابه بين العبد وربه، ونماذج من هديه ﷺ في ذلك لنقتدي بسنَّته ونتأسَّى به، وتعرَّفنا بما يجب علينا قوله وما لا يجب وما الشروط التي لا يصحُّ إلا بها، حتى إذا استكملها الإنسان يُرجَى له قبول الدعاء، ما إن يأتي الإنسان بها على الوجه المطلوب كانت الإجابة على قدر اجتهاده في تحصيل الشروط والآداب واجتناب موانعه.
