About this app

Polar connects you with nearby people that you otherwise never would have met. It presents a framework to engage in meaningful conversations in person with people in your community, taking over all the work that goes in to meeting new people.

Polar is automatic and works in the background. You start by setting up a few preferences such when you're usually free to meet, how far you're willing to travel, and what kind of places you like. Polar then handles finding a time, place, and person that works for you. Polar notifies you when it's found a potential match, and you just respond yes or no.

There's no need to spend time flipping through profiles or engaging in long drawn out messaging conversations. Once you're set up Polar gets out of the way and you shouldn't be spending time in the app. It works for you.

Polar offers two modes; "Meet People Nearby" and "Set Something Up".

In "Meet People Nearby" Polar matches you throughout the day with people, giving you the opportunity to have impromptu conversations. This is great for when you're hanging out at a bar in the evening and would enjoy some conversation, but not sure who to talk to or about what.

In "Set Something Up" Polar will find something for you in the background and give you a potential reservation for later in the week. This may look like coffee, drinks, or a sweet treat.

Polar only ever gives out identity information once both users have agreed to meet and have arrived. This is just your first name and a picture to help locate the other person, then it's up to you to reach out and start breaking the ice.
