About this app

The 26th Neuropharmacology Conference will be held in San Diego, California, USA from 10 -11 November 2016, under the theme: Ionotropic Glutamate Receptors. The conference is a satellite to the 2016 Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.

Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system where its actions are mediated largely via three classes of ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) - AMPA, NMDA and kainate. These receptors are involved in numerous physiological functions and are the targets of drugs used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and pain.

The 26th Neuropharmacology Conference will provide an overview of the field with a particular focus on recent advances in iGluR structure, the design of new ligands and the role of iGluRs in synaptic plasticity.

There will be a major emphasis on how the study of iGluRs is leading to considerable insights into the aetiology of major disorders, such as depression, schizophrenia and autism, and will evaluate the potential of targeting iGluRs for new therapies.

Conference Topics:
- Ionotropic glutamate receptors
- Synaptic plasticity and memory
- Structure/Function
- Homeostatic plasticity
- Physiology and signaling
- Neurological and psychiatric disorders
- Novel therapeutic approaches and potential applications

Using Elsevier's new NEURO2016 app, you can browse the scientific programme by days, topic or speaker, create your own personal programme, locate rooms and exhibitor stands on the floor plans, and more. Before first use, you will need to download the latest conference data and then afterwards, you can use the app offline.
