Ēkādaśī ("Eleven"), also spelled as Ēkādaśi, is the eleventh lunar day (tithi) of each of the two lunar phases which occur in a Hindu calendar month - the Shukla Pakṣa (the period of the brightening moon also known as the waxing phase) and the Kṛiṣhṇa Pakṣa (the period of the fading moon also known as the waning phase).A unique app with complete set of vrat stories for Ekadashi. We have also included the details about dates when these vrat are followed. We have also included the purpose of each vrat. Basically there used to a strong reason behind keeping Ekadashi vrat. Best to all who keep fast to solve issues in their lives.
Ekadashi fasting is observed on every 11th Tithi in Hindu calendar. There are two Ekadashi fasting in a month, one during Shukla Paksha and another during Krishna Paksha. Devotees of Lord Vishnu observe Ekadashi fasting to seek His blessings.
Ekadashi fasting spans for three days. Devotees take single meal in the afternoon a day before fasting day to make sure there is no residual food in the stomach on next day. Devotees keep strict fast on Ekadashi day and break the fast on next day only after sunrise. Eating of all type of grains and cereals is prohibited during Ekadashi fasting.
