About this app

Eiger is a mountain peak in the Bernese Alps which is 3,970 meters above sea level. It is located on the territory of the Swiss canton of Bern. Together with the Jungfrau and Mönch peaks it forms a famous trio that rises above the surrounding landscape. Eiger was first mentioned in historical documents in 1252.

The summit is a triangular almost entirely composed of limestone pyramid faces oriented in the south north-east and south-west direction. Through the Eiger the Jungfrau railway passes through the tunnel. In the center of the northern wall of the railway station is operating since 1903 Eygervand. At this stop, passengers can get off the train and admire the opening from a height of 2865 meters for a few minutes.
