About this app

El Nuevo Testamento, fue escrito en griego. Esto parece extraño, ya que la mayoría infiere que debería ser hebreo o arameo. ¿por que griego? Porque con el griego sucedió algo muy parecido a lo que sucede hoy con el idioma inglés. El inglés es tan frecuente hoy no porque sea simple o más fácil de dominar que otros idiomas sino sobre todo debido al Imperio británico.
De este modo, el griego fue el idioma más hablado durante los años de la composición del Nuevo Testamento de 50 a 100 dC. El hecho es que muchos judíos ni siquiera podían leer hebreo, ¡y esto perturbó mucho a los líderes judíos! Así, en los alrededores del 300 aC se llevó a cabo una traducción del Antiguo Testamento del hebreo al griego llamada Septuaginta, y se completó alrededor del año 200 aC. Poco a poco esta traducción griega del Antiguo Testamento fue ampliamente aceptada e incluso fue usada en muchas sinagogas. También se convirtió en una maravillosa herramienta misionera para los primeros cristianos, porque ahora los griegos podían leer la Palabra de Dios en su propia lengua.

Así que los autores del Nuevo Testamento escribieron en griego. Sin embargo, no usaban realmente griego clásico o de clase alta, sino un tipo muy común y cotidiano de griego. Durante muchos años algunos eruditos ridiculizaron al griego del Nuevo Testamento porque muchas de sus palabras eran extrañas para aquellos que leyeron los escritos de los grandes autores clásicos griegos como Platón y Aristóteles.
