Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing simUfish on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

Can't use it. When I try to slide from the edge of the screen to have access to the options, the phone brings up the standard menu keys instead (back, home screen, show apps). I am using a Moto G4 Play.

simUfish, an educational enterprise:
The visualization of complicated behavioral formulas modeled after years of research into zebrafish behavior.

Learn about individual and collective zebrafish behavior by controlling the environment and community of your fish!

Change your environment in any way you like:

- Add or remove fish friends from your aquarium.
- Place obstacles to direct your fish to different areas.
- Open a jar of flakes to feed your fish.
- Introduce and move a natural predator fish to disperse your community.
- Select one of three backgrounds for your aquarium.

See how your unique combinations affect your fish's behavior!

The concept of simUfish was to create an accurate visualization of the mathematically based modelling of zebrafish behavior from the numerous experiments performed at the Dynamical Systems Laboratory. Incorporating this visual approach into a tablet and phone application allowed us to introduce K-12 students to the benefits and rewards of college level research as well as to teach them about the research process and animal behavior studies.
