Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Distraction Counter: Safer Driving on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

Distracted driving occurred during 52% of trips that resulted in auto accidents (CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 3, 2017): every second matters when operating transportation, as seconds can mean the difference between life and death.

We know many drivers cannot resist using their phones while driving. Distraction Counter functions as a real-time awareness reminder for those distracted drivers, reminding them to value their lives while driving. Our hope is that the app can save lives by preventing accidents.

• 21% average reduction in number of phone interactions while driving for the drivers that participated in our study

Distraction Counter uses cutting-edge technologies in order to detect and help prevent phone interactions (both tactile and visual) while driving.

Features:
• Counter – A counter appears on the screen when the driver looks at or touches the screen
• Maximum allowed distraction time – The following features will reflect an increasing level of urgency reaching its climax after a time which you can configure
• Shifting colors – Counter background color progressively shifts from light gray to bright red, conveying a feeling or urgency
• Sound alert (optional) – Every second is marked with a beep, which volume progressively increases as it approaches the maximum allowed distraction time
• Device freeze (optional) – Freezes the device (blocks screen interaction) for a configurable time, after the maximum alert level is reached

Once activated, each trip and leg is registered and assigned a score in order to evaluate your progress. Open «My Trips» to analyze and see your score on each trip and leg. In order to solve punctual privacy issues, we enable you to delete trips from the list by swiping them to the left.
