About this app

An initiative of Directorate of Civil Defence, New Delhi to spread awareness on Civil Defence, Disaster Management, Fire Fighting, Rescue, First Aid, Communication etc. among the community so that the community is well prepared to handle the disasters.

Civil Defence in India started in 1962 through The Defence of India Act, 1962 (No 51 of 1962 dtd 12th December 1962). It was superseded by The Civil Defence Act 1968 (No 27 of 1968 dtd 24th May 1968) followed by Rules and Regulations on 10th July 1968.

All the members of Civil Defence Corps took active part during wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971 in organizing different civil defence services and helped the community to reduce the damages and recover from the after effects of war with flying colors.

This Android Mobile Application aims to make the community aware about various services of civil defence and DOs and DON'Ts for various kinds of disasters.

A user may download the data for offline use at the time of disasters during which the communication facilities may not be available. It also contains all useful telephone numbers of important hospitals and various helplines with direct calling feature. The app summarizes all locations and contact numbers of civil defence district offices of Delhi along with the mobile numbers of all senior wardens of the locality who may be contacted for help in case of any disaster.

This is also an effort to promote transparency in dealing with information related to the department of Civil Defence for wider reach among the community and to motivate them to join Civil Defence.
