About this app

With this Marine Safety Signs app you will quickly learn and understand the meaning of many safety signs and symbols which are used extensively on board of ships.

A sound knowledge of these signs increases the level of your personal safety on board ships and helps reducing the number of accidents on ships.

This app has 3 sections: a browser section, a quiz and a theory section.

The browser section gives detailed information in 3 languages (EN, FR and GER) on 6 categories of signs: IMO Safety Signs, IMO Rescue Boat Launch Signs, IMO Direction and Exit Signs, IMO Fire Control Signs, ISO Personal Safety Signs and as a bonus the UN Global Harmonized System for Hazardous Goods.
We advice you to spend some time going through these 6 categories before moving on to the quiz.

In the multiple choice quiz section you can test and further expand your knowledge in 2 directions: starting from the signs and choosing the correct explanation, or starting from the text and assigning the correct sign.

The quiz is really helpful in testing and building up your knowledge in a pleasant way. In case of a wrong answer press the feedback button to understand better.
You can gradually add more signs categories using the save button, as explained in the instructions page. Teach yourself by playing the quiz!

In the theory section we added some general notes on safety signs, and touch a word on the International Safety Management Code.
