Hamdan ATT (Attamimi) lahir di kepulauan Aru, Maluku Tenggara pada 27 Januari 1949. Adalah putra kedua dari 16 bersaudara sekandung dan seayah. Jumlah saudara sekandungnya ada 4 sementara yang seayah ada 16 (wauww..).Menurut wikipedia, Hamdan masuk dalam daftar tokoh artis keturunan campuran Arab-Indonesia.

Beliau meniti karir sebagai petembang sejak masih kecil lewat lagu pop dan singkat kemudian menjatuhkan pilihannya di musik yang kita cintai ini. Di usia 30 tahun, beliau kali pertama masuk dapur rekaman dengan produkasi album perdana yang berjudul Petualang Cinta, lalu berlanjut ke album kedua di tahun 1980 dengan judul Pendusta yang diproduksi oleh MGM, sementara Termiskin Di dunia merupakan koleksi album ketiganya.
