Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing WatSAFE on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

This app is really slow. I have a Samsung S7 and it took 65 seconds for the app to open. Not really acceptible. After that it is ok.

Why is there a "call 911" button? What if I accidentally open the app, or if it opens in my pocket? I can already call 911 from my phone. That's what a phone does.

The app does not open at all on Huawei p20. The watsafe logo appears and then my phone freezez and Crashes to homescreen after 5 minutes.

WatSAFE is the official safety app of the University of Waterloo. It is the only app that integrates with UWaterloo's safety and security systems. UW Police has worked to develop a unique app that provides students, faculty and staff with added safety on the UWaterloo campus. The app will send you important safety alerts and provide instant access to campus safety resources.
