This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing GATOR SAFE on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

I installed this on my phone today in order to stay updated on UF ALERTS. I was VERY disappointed when the app sent me to UF Alert's Twitter acct. But then I opened the app a second time, I noticed a very small line at the top with the /!\ symbol & "UF Alert". This is something important enough that it should require a MUCH more prominent space than the one small line. I recommend moving the Twitter feed and Facebook page to a social media button. Do that & you'll get 5 stars.

The University of Florida Police Department has worked to develop a unique app that provides students, faculty and staff with added safety on the UF campus. The app will send you important safety alerts and provide instant access to campus safety resources.
