About this app

Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar (born 22 June 1974), best known by his mononym Vijay or the name his fans gave him Ilayathalapathy, is an Indian film actor and playback singer who works in the Tamil film industry. He has appeared in more than 50 films and earned accolades, including Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

The son of film director and producer S. A. Chandrasekhar and playback singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, Vijay initially appeared as a child actor in a number of his father's films, starting with Vetri(1984), and later made his debut as a lead actor in Naalaya Theerpu (1992), also film by his father. The family drama Poove Unakkaga(1996) marked a turning point in his career and he then went on to appear in commercially successful films like Thirumalai(2003),Ghilli (2004),Thirupachi (2005), Sivakasi(2005), Pokkiri(2007),Vettaikaran (2009), Velayudham (2011), Thuppakki (2012) Kaththi(2014), Jilla (2014) and Theri(2016). Vijay 61 will be directed by Atlee.
