About this app

Funded by JDRF and the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Network for Pancreatic Organ Donors with Diabetes (nPOD) is a non-profit research organization. nPOD supports scientists around the world by providing, without cost, rare and difficult to obtain human pancreatic and associated tissues beneficial to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research. nPOD works with Organ Procurement Organizations to obtain tissues from deceased organ donors, and provides these tissues to scientists studying the disease process. Samples provided by nPOD have supported hundreds of scientific research projects around the world, resulting in hundreds of articles published in prestigious scientific journals. We are continually humbled by the decision families make to contribute to Type 1 Diabetes research through organ donation, and believe these donations are the gift of hope for a cure for future generations. As steward of such rare and precious resources, nPOD is committed to ensuring that our donors’ gifts are used in the most meaningful way. nPOD is devoted to accelerating the rate of significant findings in T1D research through collaboration and data sharing; our investigators work together to collectively tackle questions about T1D development using diverse expertise from multiple disciplines. We are united in one goal: to cure Type 1 Diabetes.
