About this app

Ethel, the elderly care hub is an innovative ‘always-on’, elderly friendly smart hub designed for those who have little or no computer skills. The Smart hub is powered by the Ethel App that provides the following services specifically designed to help your elderly loved one stay safe and independent in their own home.

● Make (and receive) free video calls from your Apple or Android smartphone/PC to the Ethel Hub
● Make (or receive) free audio calls (private, secure and simple)
● Send instant photos to the Hub so your elderly loved one feels included in the wider family network. The photos can also be set to play in slideshow mode. (think holiday pics, birthday party pics, etc)
● Send instant video clips to the Hub so your elderly loved one feels included in the wider family network (imagine saying “I do” and your elderly relative being able to see that)
● Set up automated surveys and get real time feedback (such as “how are you feeling today?” or “what is your pain level today?”)
● Set up automated Medication Reminders with audio and visual reminders with alerts set if medication missed (e.g “Hello Norman, Its time for your 11am medication. Its on the dining table. Please take it with a glass of water and press this button”)
● Set up automated Treatment Reminders with audio and visual reminders (“time to do your breathing exercises”)
● Set up automated Event Reminders ((e.g “Hello Norman, the district nurse will call with you at 10 am today to check on your wound)
● Send and receive Text Messages
● Ability to receive live stream church services straight to the Hub (where churches offer that service)

Once Ethel is set up on the Hub and an account has been created on www.myethel.co.uk , family and friends of the elderly person can download the free Ethel Connect App (Android and iOS) so that they can connect with the elderly person from their smart phone and take advantage of all the features listed above. Ethel Connect is also available as a webpage
