About this app

Church on Mount Zion was established in 1990 and registered under The Indian Trusts Act in 2000.

The name of the Church is based on the scripture “But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect (Heb 12:22-23).

The Church on Mount Zion was founded by Rev. S. S. Mohanty on 7th March 1990 in obedience to God’s vision to serve the people through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. Rev. S. S. Mohanty has sacrificed his life and gone through great tribulation in building the Kingdom of God in the temple city called Bhubaneswar, Odisha according to the plan and direction given by God. During those days it was rare to find a true spirit-filled Pentecostal church in Bhubaneswar. In the beginning of ministry only two families were associated with the pastor and one of the brothers encouraged and said that why not we start church from next week? And immediately at the first Sunday of March 1990 we conducted our first Sunday worship service with just two families and that was the birth of the Church on Mount Zion, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Within seven years of service “Church on Mount Zion” became one of the largest churches in the city.
