Salah satu kewajiban Menjadi peserta BPJS Mandiri adalah membayar iuran bulanan yang besarnya sangat ditentukan oleh kelas bpjs yang diambil, umumnya kelas paling besar, diikuti oleh kelas II dan kelas III. Iuran bulanan bpjs harus dibayarkan paling tidak sampai dengan tanggal 10 setiap bulannya, jika terlambat saja selama 1 bulan maka kartu bpjs anda akan dinonaktifkan dan anda akan terkena tunggakan.

Walaupun saat ini denda sudah dihapus, tidak membayar iuran bulanan bukan cara untuk berhenti dari kepesertaan, mungkin ada orang yang masih menganggap dengan menghentikan iuran akan berhenti menjadi peserta bpjs, itu salah besar, karena jika iuran tidak dibayar maka total tunggakan akan terus membesar dan kartu akan diblokir, apalagi sekarang sistem pembayaran iuran bpjs menggunakan sistem va keluarga, iuran harus dibayarkan dalam 1 kali transaksi untuk seluruh anggota keluarga, jadi jika terjadi tunggakan dalam waktu yang lama, maka konsekuensinya anda harus membayar tunggakan secara sekaligus untuk seluruh anggota keluarga dan tidak bisa perorang.
