The Little Women trilogy consists of three novel stories written by Louisa M Alcott.
The first novel, Little Women: or Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy (1868), is a two-part story of the March sisters going from childhood to adulthood and their respective marriages.
Little Men (1871) detailed Jo's life at the Plumfield School that she founded with her husband Professor Bhaer, a school for young boys with a disadvantaged background.
And this novel, Jo’s Boys (1886) tells of the pain and joy alongside each of the little men as they continue in their life journey and fulfilling their dreams.
This ebook is formatted for your smartphone and tablets, with a functional and detailed table of contents.
Originally published in 1886, two years before the author's death, Jo's Boys follows the lives of the young men, who are now grown up and discovering more about the world.
The story takes place ten years after the school at Plumfield Estate School was founded. The book tells the story of the boys who were introduced in Little Men, particularly Tommy, Emil, Demi, Nat, Dan, Rob and Teddy as well, and Josie and Bess, two cousins of Demi and Daisy.
In it, we learn the fates of the boys as they struggle to overcome their many flaws, in the end learning life's lessons the hard way.
The original twelve boys had scattered far and wide during those ten years, but they still remembered old Plumfield, and came wandering back from the four quarters of the earth to tell their various experiences, laugh over the pleasures of the past, and face the duties of the present with fresh courage.
Just as the March girls did, each boy must learn to deal with death, love, heartbreak, and the consequences of their actions.
We read how Jo and the warm-hearted March family comfort and guide the boys when they need it the most.
The March sisters divided the care of the young people among them, each taking the part that suited her best.
Meg was the motherly friend of the young women, Jo the confidante and defender of all the youths, and Amy the lady Bountiful.
Jo remains at the center of this tale, holding her boys fast through shipwreck and storm, disappointment ... and even murder.
Words of wisdom Jo gave to her boys when they are about to start their own lives:
“Life is pretty tough sometimes, but it is that very struggle with obstacles which does us good. “
“You must paddle your own canoe now, and learn to avoid the rapids and steer straight to the port you want to reach. “
“Now you will have not only to obey but to command also, and power is a dangerous thing. “
“No matter what happens to your body, keep your soul clean, your heart true to those who love you, and do your duty to the end.”
“Don't let a moment's fury ruin all your life.”
“Love is apt to make lunatics of even saints and sages.”
