About this app

This application "BIOMA - Best Practices Guide" was prepared within the framework of the program "Decentralized biowaste management and their utilization using alternative and innovative processing systems" with the acronym BIOMA, within the framework of the Operational Program , Greece - Cyprus 2014-2020.

The main goal of the project is to promote collection at the source and management of biowaste originating from household organic waste and agricultural and livestock waste, using innovative systems. The innovative system proposed by the BIOMA program for sorting of biowaste at the source is the use of a household dryer, which has been distributed to households in the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades and to households in the Palodia Community. With the implementation of the project, the selected areas will rationally manage the organic load by converting it into value-added final products providing multiple benefits, as the complete management of biowaste is achieved through their processing and reuse, and diversion of the organic fraction from landfills, thus saving resources and energy.

This is an application for smart phones and tablets, with a graphical environment that is friendly and understandable to the end user, created in Greek and English. In addition to the instructions for operating the Smart Cara CS 10, the best practices guide contains other useful information, covering some aspects of the potential of the quantities that can be collected, the intensity of the awareness campaign, the frequency of collection, the cost, the issues, the distribution of the final product, etc. In addition, the guide provides incentives for the implementation of the separate collection of organic waste based on EU legislation and the future steps to be taken.
