About this app

So, why would you need an app to retrieve scientific studies from Google when there is a "Google Scholar"? The app gives far better, more trustworthy and more intelligent results compared to Google and does things that Google does not do.

Google is by far the most powerful search engine and is a common platform professionals in biomedical and other fields use to retrieve information on a constant basis. Even though the text searching capability of Google outsmarts any search engine, it does not take into account the quality and importance of the studies returned. This app combines Google's power with:

1. Ability to sort by quality of the study as measured by the journal impact factor and sample size of the study

2. Ability to retrieve better results by adding custom search phrases automatically depending on the nature of your search

3. Ability to intelligently sort the search results based on many factors including

- Type of study

- Cases and controls

- Sample sizes

- Disease process

- Surgical or medical therapy

- Follow-up times

An example would be a search for clinical studies on pancreatic cancer - our app retrieves the most ground breaking randomized studies in NEJM, JAMA etc organized at the top, while Google Scholar retrieves articles not so relevant in the clinical field, or are not as trustworthy. However, searching for pancreatic cancer in the "Basic Science" section in our app would retrieve relevant lab studies at the top. Try this out yourself! You can also organize clinical studies by the type of the study at the push of a button - randomized trial versus systematic reviews for example.

JARVIS is our home made AI who runs most of our technologies. He is able to read the webpages delivered by Google and pick out important details like disease processes, surgical or medical therapy and also make out which groups are being compared. As he gets better, you can ask a question to JARVIS and he will tell your the standard of care as of today!

The app also offers cloud storage of your data. The app is supposed to complement iPubmed (another innovation of Best Surgical Education available on mobile) to help you keep up to date in science and medicine. However, unlike iPubmed, this platform can serve non-biomedical professionals as well.

The app, given its price, is unable to deliver full text articles which require a journal subscription. However, there are scores of full text articles available for free.

The auto-renewing In App Purchases cost from $2.99 a month to $24.99 a year depending on the tier of subscription. JARVIS is available only in the advanced tiers. Details of the subscription will be available at the time of purchase. You can cancel this anytime in your Settings app 24 hours before auto-renewal.

Note: This app is completely different from our other app - iSearch Biomed. iSearch Biomed is based on Pubmed while this app is based on Google. iSearch Biomed is more current while iSearch Science tends to give more relevant results utilizing not just JARVIS, but also the power of Google search. As such, these two apps are complementary to each other.
