About this app

The author, Kaushik Moulik's experiences with FC Bayern Munich has been divided in four chapters in this book: “Danke Oli”, Winter Camp , Legends’ Visit and Bayern Impact.It unveils many unrevealed, interesting stories that happened each time they visited India.

The book speaks about the football passion and madness which was witnessed at that night of 27th May 2008 at the Salt Lake Stadium of Kolkata, as the Legendary German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn secured the goalpost for his Retirement Match , in front of 1,25,000 spectators on ground.

The event proceeded with a signature campaign in the state of West Bengal, where a total of 5 lac signatures collected in just 7 days were handed over to Mr Kahn in Munich. FC Bayern too, assisted the Kolkata Police in organizing Friendship Cup, a football tournament involving 450 teams.The second string team of the German club visited the city once again in January 2009 where they played against the East Bengal club and the Siliguri Mayor’s XI at Barasat, Kolkata and Siliguri. In November 2010, the former legends of Bayern Munich played a charity match against the former greats of the East Bengal club. In 2012, the first team of Bayern showed their skills against the Indian national team to celebrate the final appearance of Indian star striker Bhaichung Bhutia in the national jersey.

This book is an attempt to unleash impact of Bayern Munich’s ingress on Indian Football- how it all started, how this mammoth task of bringing back the glory of Indian football was performed in these 10 years. Let’s hope this book inspires the young talents waiting to exhibit their skills at the international levels, as well as the sports entrepreneurs who aim for the betterment of some less popular disciplines with prominent prospects in this nation.
