A baboon or yellow baboon ( Papio cynocephalus ) is a kind of real baboons of the family of marmosets Cercopithecidae.

The length of the body is on the average 75 cm the tail is 60 cm. The color of the coat is yellowish hence the name of the yellow baboon. Despite its awkward appearance these are very agile animals.

Baboons are primates with highly developed social relationships that never live alone. In the herd an average of about 80 individuals. Members of the herd travel together eat and sleep. In a relationship with each other a hierarchy is expressed. The herd is dominated by several adult males who stay together and come to each other's rescue in case of danger. The composition of the group of leaders is quite stable for many years. Between females their cubs friendly relations are established the basis of the herd of baboons. Between females and their grown-up daughters, very close ties are usually maintained but the sons leave their native flock to join another.

When a herd of baboons goes to rest at noon, relatives tend to gather around the older female to rest and take care of grooming - the search for a partner's coat or their own associated with the expression of a friendly attitude or patronage. At night members of one family sleep closely embracing each other. If one of the relatives is in danger from another baboon everyone immediately rushes to the rescue. And although females compete among themselves for food and position in the hierarchy serious fights between them are extremely rare. High status of the individual tribesmen constantly confirm certain gestures expressing obedience for example a grimace of fear or a raised tail. When there is a conflict between the females, they later reconcile grumbling at each other.
