About this app

Discover which Messier objects are in the night sky; and when and how you can best observe them.
The messier objects are a list of astronomical objects started by the French astronomer Charles Messier. Discover which messier objects are in the night sky; and when and how you can observe them.

They are a great way to start exploring the sights of the sky! Did you know that Messier 1 (Crab Nebula) is the remnant of a supernova, or that Messier 31 the great spiral galaxy, Andromeda galaxy. Andromeda galaxy is so large it can be seen with binoculars!

To begin: Start the app and indicate your location and the date you wish to observe. The app will find the next observation window when there is both astronomical darkness (sun is 18 degrees below the horizon) and the moon is below the horizon. The Messier objects that are visible in the sky (15 degrees above the horizon) during that time and from your location are listed. Finally, by tapping a Messier object you can see where it appears in the sky.
