About this app

Virtual Museum, app developed by Pantelis Kyriakou and Augmented Space Agency at “Links Between Realities” workshop of EASA Malta 2015.

The Virtual Museum is a pilot app for a type of museum which can adapt itself to any setting. This app explores the potential of such a museum by using a cable drum as a plinth for a contemporary sculpture, the Arch of Hysteria, by Louise Bourgeois.

This museum piece is transported to an everyday setting and built from the ground up, as a virtual object in real space. The sculpture gradually receives material substance and reflections from the environment, while accompanied by the three movements of Iannis Xenakis's Metastaseis.

The app uses a horizontal target which can be downloaded from the Augmented Space Agency Facebook page or directly from the screenshots.

The circle turns green when it has found its target and you can touch it to begin the animation. The Arch has three stages: 1.Wireframe, 2.Solid clay, 3.Shiny bronze. You can also tap an hold to take a screenshot which you can later share.

(Both works of art are licensed under the concept of "fair use" - transformative, without material detriments and only to the extent that they apply to the use in question)
