This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Orba (1) by Artiphon on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

The app doesn't have a firmware update on android and when you up date on Windows some of the dll files are not compatible with the current windows programming. This causes a problem with the bluetooth connection which makes the instrument not work with any device and you're stuck with what the device had preinstalled. It basically just needs to be updated in programming is all. I take it you don't have a programmer on hand to do that.I just spent over a hundred dollars for something worth $5

App can't even see the Orba device even though it shows up in the list of available bluetooth devices in Android settings. When connected by USB, I just want to save the MIDI files or audio from the hardware, but the app doesn't allow that. It only saves sequences directly to the app in ".song" files, which appear to be xml, so I'm guessing they're webMIDI? I really hope they add direct .MIDI file export for the four tracks in a future update. They don't always sync right when played to a DAW.

It's disheartening that this app has been downloaded over 5K times and only a dozen people have bothered to leave a review. For me, it would seem that the aforementioned problems have been fixed. My Orba upgraded the firmware as advised without issue. The app doesn't automatically reconnect to my Orba when I turn the Orba on, but that's just a couple taps. It functions as designed so far and I'm happy I got it.

Good app but really can't use Bluetooth features with daw apps properly unless connected by USB cable. Also hoping app will allow uploads of created songs to collaborate with other musicians worldwide. Midi implementation could use improvement to allow wireless control over widi. Hopeful! 😊

Not so hot. This app is clunky to put it nicely. I can see the direction it is going and it's not bad, but execution is lacking.

I can see it in my Bluetooth devices list but it won't connect to the android app.

New features

There’s a new Orba app in town with three new song templates (four new presets each!)
“Lifelike” is inspired by real-world instruments, like electric guitars and tubas. It’s “tu” much fun.
“To & Fro” includes a Drum preset with automatically repeating sounds. You’ll find that the snare, hats, and toms all have this experimental effect.
Finally, craft something bouncy and bright with “Pieces," a set of energetic presets.
A notification will now pop up if you connect an Orba 2 to the Orba 1 app.
