About this app

मीठा सोना (Meetha Sona) is a mobile-first, training app developed to provide technical assistance to smallholder farmers growing sugarcane and supplying harvested cane to DCM Shriram Sugar’s manufacturing units in Ajbapur in Lakhimpur Kheri District, and at Rupapur, Hariawan and Loni, in Hardoi District of Uttar Pradesh, India.

The training materials are part of International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s Meetha Sona Pariyojana program, developed in collaboration with DCM Shriram Sugar and Solidaridad Network Asia to promote environmental sustainability standard compliance among growers to conserve water, soil health and increase the agriculture yield of sugarcane.

The Meetha Sona training modules cover the following topics:
Module 1. Good Planting Techniques
Module 2. Soil Health and Nutrient Management
Module 3. Water Use Efficiency and Management
Module 4. Integrated Pest Management
Module 5. Ratoon Management
Module 6. Mechanization

The app features several interactive learning tools, instructional videos and quizzes to reinforce the training imparted. The content is presented in English and Hindi languages to cater to a wider audience. A Leaderboard displays user rank among peers to drive engagement within the app.
