Представляемъ вамъ замѣчательный романъ Русскаго поэта Михаила Юрьевича Лермонтова «Герой нашего времени». Онъ написанъ авторомъ въ 1838–1840 годахъ. По своему жанру произведеніе представляетъ первый въ Русской прозѣ лирико-психологическій романъ.
Одинъ изъ главныхъ героевъ романа – Григорій Печоринъ — является естественнымъ продолжателемъ и сходнымъ по міровоззрѣнію образомъ Евгенія Онѣгина — главнаго героя одноименнаго романа въ стихахъ Александра Сергѣевича Пушкина. У нихъ много общаго, но, тѣмъ не менѣе, они — разные люди. Онѣгинъ болѣе остороженъ. Онъ привыкъ къ своей жизни, хоть она ему и во многомъ надоѣла. Печоринъ — фаталистъ, играющій съ жизнью. Онъ съ легкостью рискуетъ собственной жизнью, и такъ же легко относится къ жизни другихъ людей.
Впервые романъ былъ изданъ въ Санктъ-Петербургѣ въ типографіи Ильи Глазунова и Кº въ 1840 году въ двухъ книгахъ. Въ нашемъ изданіи приводится текстъ въ авторской орѳографіи, вывѣренный по данному источнику съ исправленіемъ явныхъ опечатокъ.
Въ книгу включены иллюстраціи къ роману различныхъ авторовъ, увидѣвшія свѣтъ до 1917 года.
