The Cosumnes Fire Department is an "All Risk" department, meaning we will respond to the needs of the communities of Elk Grove and Galt, regardless of the nature of the incident. As first responders, we begin the process of solving the problem to lead to a positive outcome. The Cosumnes Fire Department is comprised of specialists in the areas of structural firefighting, wildland firefighting, emergency medical care and transportation, hazardous materials response, urban search and rescue, and swift water and flood rescue. Every member of the Department is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician or is a nationally accredited Paramedic. Emergency medical service and transportation accounts for most of our workload, and the Cosumnes Fire Department is a regional leader in pre-hospital emergency care.
