في ديسمبر من عام 1956، في عمق الكفاح من أجل التحرر الوطني رأت الإذاعة الجزائرية النور "صوت الجزائر المكافحة". كانت مهام هذه الإذاعة التي كانت تبث برامجها على متن شاحنة متنقلة على الحدود الجزائرية المغربية بواسطة جهاز لا سلكي حُوّل إلى جهاز إرسال، الرد على الدعاية الاستعمارية الكاذبة التي كان يُروج لها الإعلام الفرنسي.

في مطلع الاستقلال، تمكن فريق الصحفيين والتقنيين الجزائريين وعلى رأسهم الصحفي المناضل عيسى مسعودي رمز " صوت الجزائر المكافحة " من رفع التحدي عندما نجح في ضمان استمرار البث الإذاعي والتلفزي على إثر انسحاب الموظفين الفرنسيين احتجاجا على إنزال العلم الفرنسي من فوق مبنى الإذاعة والتلفزيون ورفع العلم الجزائري مكانه يوم 28 أكتوبر 1962 عشية أولى الاحتفالات بذكرى اندلاع الثورة التحريرية المجيدة (الفاتح من نوفمبر)، وشكل ذلك تاريخا لبسط السيادة الوطنية على قطاع السمعي البصري في الجزائر.
