About this app

The app, Outsider Art, presents 27 American outsider artists, whose work is included in the exhibition Great and Mighty Things: Outsider Art from the Jill and Sheldon Bonovitz Collection on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Spring 2013. An audio entry for every artist, describing his or her biography and work, is accompanied by rare photography and video of the artist and his/her environment. These entries are accessed from an alphabetical list of artists and, within the exhibition itself, through a keypad. There is also an introduction to the collection from Timothy Rub, Director and CEO of the Museum and a “Meet the Collectors” video of the Bonovitzes describing their journey to assemble such a large collection of this material. All objects in the exhibition are promised gifts to the PMA, and can be found and studied on the PMA website.
