Makanan yang biasa dimakan oleh Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. diantaranya seperti Kurma, Susu, Madu Lebah, Buah Delima, Minyak Zaitun, Cuka,Buah Labu, Buah Anggur,Air Zamzam dan Buah Tin.

Berdoa sebelum dan setelah makan. Cuci tangan sebelum dan selepas makan dan minum dengan memegang gelas dengan tangan kanan sebaik-baiknya sebelum makan. Jangan meneguk air ketika sesi menjamah makanan, minum air jika tersedak, berasa kekeringan ataupun setengah jam sesudah makan, hal ini makan melancarkan selera makan serta mengelakkan dari terkena penyakit kembung air. Meminum air sekurang-kurangnya setengah jam sesudah makan dapat mengembalikan tenaga yang hilang pada kadar tempoh yang lama serta mengembalikan keserian wajah dan awek muda.


Makan dan minum perlulah dalam keadaan duduk tidak berdiri, baik sekali makan berjamaah bersama keluarga, mahupun teman. Berkumpul untuk menjamah hidangan dan makanan secara berjamaah adalah suatu yang dianjurkan bagi kaum Muslimin di samping akan mendapatkan keutamaan berdasarkan hadis berikut:

“Berjamaahlah dalam menyantap hidanganmu dan sebut nama Allah padanya, nescaya akan mengandungi berkat bagimu.” (Silsilah Hadis-hadis Shahih no. 664).
