The process to obtain a driving license:

The prerequisite for a driving license is the Learner's Driver's Driver's License.
The customer must first apply with the necessary documents for the Learner or Beginner Driving License. The customer will have to apply to the Circle Office with his / her permanent address or current address (including the required proofs) of the BRTA circle. The Circle Office authorities will give him a beginner or learner driving license, with the applicant receiving a driving training. After taking the training of 2/3 months, he will have to take part in written, oral and field test at the designated center for the date and time. During this time, the candidate must bring the pen to participate in his / her learner's driving license (original copy) and written examination. For a professional driving license, the age must be at least 20 years and the minimum must be 18 years for the amateur.

Papers for Learner or Beginner Driving License:
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate by a registered doctor.
3. Attested Photocopy of National ID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport
4. Scheduled Fee, 1 Category-345 / -Taka and 2 Category-518 / -Thaka BRTA Scheduled Bank (Available in Bank's website www.brta.gov.bd) Cash Deposit Receipt.
5. 03 copy stamps and 01 copies of passport size photographs.

After passing the written, verbal and field test, the applicant will have to apply for a smart card driving license in a prescribed form by providing necessary documents and fees. Smart cards are issued after receiving customer biometrics (digital images, digital signature, and fingerprint). After the smart card driving license is done, the customer is informed about receiving it through SMS.

Papers required for SmartCard Driving License:
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate by a registered doctor.
3. Attested Photocopy of National ID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport
4. Scheduled fees (Professional- 1679 / -Tack and amateur -2554 / -taka) Receipt of deposit to BRTA-fixed bank
5. Police investigation report for professional driving license.
6. 1 copied passport size photograph for newly opened

Renewal of driving license:

(A) Amateur:
The subscriber has to submit the prescribed fee (within 15 days of expiry, 2427 / - and 15 days after the expiry of the expiry date, with fine of Rs.230 / - per year) and apply to the BRTA's specific circle office along with necessary documents. On the same day, customer biometrics (digital photo, digital signature, and fingerprint) are accepted if the application and attached papers are found correct. After the smart card w printing is done, the customer is notified through the SMS.

(B) Professional:
Professional driving licensees will have to participate in a practical exam again. After the expiry of the examination, within 15 days of expiry, 1565 rupees after 15 days of expiry and 30 days after the expiry of the expiry of the term of Taka 230 / taka will be required to apply in the BRTA's specific circle office along with necessary documents. The customer has to appear at the specified circle office for accepting customer biometrics (digital photo, digital signature, and fingerprint). When all the smart card w printing process is complete, the customer is notified through the SMS.
