This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Tsunami Ready - Know your route to safety on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Tsunami Ready is a free mobile app for residents of the Greater Wellington region. It helps you locate the nearest safe zone and learn the quickest route to safety, using GPS and an interactive map experience to prepare you and your loved ones so you can act fast if a tsunami disaster strikes.

Find safety
A massive earthquake in New Zealand could trigger a tsunami wave, leaving you with less than 10 minutes to get to safety. Know where to go if a tsunami comes while you are at work, home, or school. Search for an address in the Greater Wellington region to see if the places you frequent are in a tsunami danger zone. Invite loved ones to check their favourite spots too.

Practice drills
If you’re in a danger zone, run practice drills with whānau and friends, so everyone knows the best route to safety before a tsunami wave reaches our shores. Follow the map and challenge yourselves to beat the clock. Earn badges for making it out of the tsunami danger zone in time. Keep practicing and aim to smash your record.

The app is a learning tool to help people understand what to do in case of a tsunami. It should not be used during an active tsunami event.
