About this app

Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid bin Gharib bin Muhammad Al Afasy (born in Kuwait in September 5, 1976) is a Kuwaiti preacher, imam quran reciter and nasheed artist. He is also known as Abu Rashid (The father of Rashid).

Mishary Al-Afasy is recognized for his beautiful voice and unique recitation of Quran. Many reciters have come to imitate his mode of recitation.

He studied Quran in the College of the Holy Quran at the Islamic University of Madinah ( Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia), specializing in the ten readings of the Holy Quran. He has read the Quran to Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat, Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei, and the Sheikh Abdurarea Radwan. He impressed a number of great reciters of Quran with his recitation.

Mishary Al-Afasy is the Imam of Grand Mosque (Kuwait), and every Ramadan he leads the Taraweeh prayers in this Mosque. He very often leads the Taraweeh prayers in the UAE and other neighboring countries in the Gulf.

In 2007, he visited two mosques in the United States of America : the Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) in California and the Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) in Michigan.
